WIRE โ By Mcloyd Chilangiza: Standard Bank plc has affirmed its commitment to national growth through education with a K50 million donation to the Malawi University of Science and Technology (Must) Endowment Fund. Standard Bank Chief Executive Phillip Madinga made a symbolic cheque presentation to the university on Thursday, when it was received by Minister of Education Bright Msaka during the university's 7th Congregation. The Must Endowment Fund was established to provide sustainable financial support for scholarships, research, innovation and infrastructure development at the university. It targets underprivileged students. Speaking during the handover ceremony, Madinga said the donation reflected the bank's belief in investing in the next generation of leaders, scientists and innovators. "This contribution to the Must Endowment Fund is a continuation of our commitment to building capacity, driving research and ensuring that no talented Malawian student is left behind due to financial challenges," he said. Outgoing Must Vice Chancellor, Professor Address Malata, commended the bank for the gesture. "This generous contribution comes at a critical time. The Endowment Fund is key to securing Must's future and producing graduates who will solve Malawi's real problems. We are grateful," she said. The K50 million will be channeled towards student scholarships, research grants and innovation projects that support Malawi's development agenda.
