WIRE — Malawi will this year host the Infrastructure International Conference, where industry players will converge at Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (Mubas) campus to discuss issues such as climate resilience, investment partnerships and technological innovation. Mubas will, in partnership with the University of Johannesburg, host the three-day conference from August 10. Participants will also explore the issue of innovative approaches to sustainable infrastructure development. Mubas Vice Chancellor, Professor Nancy Chitera, described the conference as a milestone in the university's commitment to advancing research, innovation and international collaboration. "This collaboration reflects our shared commitment to generating knowledge and innovative solutions that address the infrastructure challenges facing our region and the world," she said. Chairperson for the local organising committee, Theresa Mkandawire, said preparations for the conference were progressing well and encouraged professionals and researchers to participate in activities. "The conference offers an exceptional opportunity to researchers, practitioners and decisionmakers to engage in meaningful discussions on infrastructure development in the context of emerging global challenges," Mkandawire said. To be held under the theme 'Infrastructure for a New Development Era: Climate Resilience, Innovation and Investment Partnerships', the 12th conference will bring together academics, policymakers, researchers, consultants, engineers, architects, planners, surveyors, contractors and industry leaders.
