In regulation time the game ended one-all after Godfrey Maluwa's spot kick cancelled out Lameck Mithi's opener from the spot. Ekhaya booked their ticket to the final after beating Karonga United 2-1 at Silver Stadium in Lilongwe on Saturday. Nomads defender Alex Kambirinya converted the penalty taking Wanderers to the final. In a post-matchinterview, Wanderers coach Bob Mpinganjira described the match as tough. "We have won. We have reached the finals. I should thank my players from the beginning of the game up to the end. It was not easy," Mpinganjira said. He admitted that his players lost many chances which they could have scored. Despite the defeat, Eagles coach Deklerk Msakakuona praised his charges for putting up a gallant fight. "We did a good job but Wanderers have gone to the finals through penalties. The players played well, now we have to put our focus on the league," Msakakuona said. On the way to the final, Ekhaya knocked out defending champions FCB Nyasa Big Bullets in the quarterfinals, before overcoming Karonga in the semifinals. Wanderers outclassed Creck Sporting Club in the quarterfinals and Eagles in the semifinals. The final is expected to take place on August 29, 2026, at a venue to be announced later.
