Speaking during celebrations marking the 27th anniversary of King Mohammed VI's accession to the throne, Mohammed said Malawi has the resources needed to industrialise and achieve sustainable economic growth. The event brought together government officials, private sector representatives and members of the diplomatic community. Mohammed said Morocco's development demonstrates what can be achieved through investment and effective use of natural resources. Morocco is a major agricultural producer and has vast phosphate reserves, making it one of Africa's leading fertiliser producers. Tourism is also a key contributor to its economy. Minister of Foreign Affairs George Chaponda attributed Morocco's progress to visionary leadership and deliberate development policies. They already help us with fertiliser and as we shift from aid dependency to self-sustenance, we need countries like these to help us industrialise," he said. Chaponda identified mining, manufacturing and tourism as sectors with strong potential for cooperation between Malawi and Morocco.
