WIRE — By Innocent Kalikokha: Two suspected Mozambican nationals were killed on Friday evening in a suspected explosion at Enodani Lodge near Mlambala Trading Centre in Fatima, Nsanje District. South East Police Region spokesperson Edward Kabango confirmed the incident, saying the victims had not yet been identified. According to Kabango, three men, including a traditional healer identified only as Dr Magumbi from Mozambique, booked a room at the lodge on July 30 before leaving without returning the key. The following day, two of the men returned without the traditional healer, handed back the key and requested to spend another night in the same room. Kabango said a loud explosion was heard at about 4pm, prompting the lodge owner to alert police. Officers found cracks in the room's walls and shattered window panes. Looking through the window, they found the two men lying motionless inside. Police recovered fragments of metal, a hacksaw and a hammer from the room. "A post-mortem conducted at Trinity Hospital established that the victims died from severe bleeding, suffocation and head injuries sustained in the explosion," Kabango said. Police have launched investigations to establish the cause of the explosion and the circumstances surrounding the incident.
