WIRE — Mighty Wanderers Football Club president and board chairperson Thomson Mpinganjira has purchased sports equipment worth more than K100 million for the club's four teams. The equipment will be used by the senior men's team, reserve team, women's team and youth team. Speaking after handing over the equipment in Blantyre Tuesday, Wanderers director of football David Kanyenda said the donation would motivate the players and improve the club's preparations. "We will operate at a much higher level in terms of game preparation and training than before. The equipment will significantly improve our preparations and boost the players' morale," Kanyenda said. The package includes two sets of tracksuits and training kits for each team, more than 50 footballs, boots, rubber cones, gym mats, La Liga balls, fl at training markers, sandals, goalkeeper gloves, shin-guards, gym balls, yoga mats, heavy resistance bands, cooler boxes, ice makers, foam rollers, sandbags and socks. Wanderers acting chief executive officer Wales Kachingwe welcomed the donation, describing it as timely as the club prepares for continental and domestic competitions. "This is a major boost as we prepare for the Caf Champions League. We are pleased that the president has supported the club with equipment that will help the players and the technical team," Kachingwe said. Wanderers lead the FDH Bank Premiership table with 22 points from 11 matches. They have also reached the Airtel Top 8 semifinals, where they will face Blue Eagles at Silver Stadium on Sunday. The Nomads will represent Malawi in this year's Caf Champions League.
