Lameck Mithi attributes award to teamwork

Mithi scooped the FDH Bank Premiership player-of-the-month award whereas Ekhaya Football Club (FC) Assistant Coach Fundi Akidu was voted as the best coach for May. In an interview Wednesday, Mithi attributed the award to collective support from teammates and the technical panel. "It is a result of the hard work I have put in, together with my teammates and the technical team. I am grateful for the recognition, but my focus is on keeping improving, scoring more goals and helping the team win trophies," Mithi said. He said the award would also serve as a source of motivation to continue working hard and contributing to the team's success. "I am very happy to win the award, especially being my first season at Wanderers," he said. Mithi beat Silver Strikers FC's Ernest Petro and Blue Eagles FC's Webster Nzunda to claim the monthly award after an impressive run of performances. The forward featured in all six league matches for Wanderers in May, scoring five goals, including a hat-trick, and also winning one man-of-the-match award. Mithi, Festus Duwe and Ephraim Kondowe are top of the scorers' chart with five goals each. He will pocket K300,000 for winning the award.
