Commenting on his appointment, Maslo said ARC has a vital role in helping African governments and their partners anticipate, finance and respond to disasters before they become humanitarian crises. "Our focus will be on building a stronger, more agile and more impactful ARC Ltd. We will deepen trust, expand access to protection, mobilise new partnerships and help ensure that African countries are better prepared for the risks of tomorrow," he said. Maslo's appointment comes at a defining time as African countries face increasing exposure to climate-related shocks, agriculture and food security challenges, public health emergencies such as Ebola, and other catastrophic risks. The firm has been Malawi's strategic partner. Following a severe drought between 2024 and 2025, Malawi received an insurance payout totaling $3,376,783. The amount included $3,065,746 from a traditional sovereign insurance policy and $311,037 from an advance insurance policy, designed to support affected farming households. Malawi is a participant in the ARC Regional Emergency Preparedness and Access to Inclusive Recovery Programme, which is designed to enhance resilience for millions of people across Eastern and Southern Africa against natural shocks
