Lilongwe comes alive as Kumingoli Bash delivers

By Jimmy Chazama: Hits, hype, dance and all-out fun overwhelmed Aero Lounge in Lilongwe on Saturday as Kumingoli Bash returned to the fold with its revitalised Pool Party Edition. The epic line-up which included award-winning musician Patience Namadingo set the stage on fire as revelers partied to the fullest during the bash that spilled over to the early hours of yesterday. Spearheaded by S.A.L Enterprise, formerly Sound Addicts Live, the gig attracted a massive audience but it was lesser than the organisers had projected. Artists left no stone unturned as they gave out powerful performances that kept the audience on the dance floor throughout with many singing along to most of the songs. One of the outstanding moments during the concert was when rapper Gwamba surprised fans by performing 'Alole' with Kineo Madness and Teddy Makadi. The crowd embraced the performance with a full sing along as if it was a national anthem. Gwamba's routine was more like a warm-up as he looks ahead to the Landlord Pakwao Concert at Bingu Stadium in the same city on August 1 2026 where he will share the stage with Nigeria's star Ruger. Teddy followed with another unforgettable gesture, as he handed flowers to more than 50 women, each carrying the message "Cards with Love, November 28." Fans tied this to Teddy's expected fatherhood and upcoming album release, making it deeply personal. Namadingo who was tagged an international headliner on the line-up, also delivered a powerful performance. Clad in his white shirt and black trouser, the 'Tuli' star, who has earned kudos from people for his fundraising drive to bring stranded Malawians home from South Africa, served several songs. Other artists that also performed at the concert, included Skeffa Chimoto, Crispy Malawi, Joe Ikon, Oana and Agorosso. However, there was no show for Zeze Kingston, who was billed to perform. Apart from music, the audience also experienced other doings that added spark to the bill and included Spanner Malawi's eating display before staging a contest with models. Malawi National Dance Troupe was also not left out of the menu as it served different traditional dances reminding the audience the beauty of promoting and preserving the country's culture. S.A.L Enterprise Executive Director Shadreck Kalukusha described the event as a success. "We are proud of what we have achieved. I believe this is now a new standard for events, we need to strive for quality," Kalukusha said. There was also a visual artist contest which saw Enisa Kachikuni come out top and pocketed K1 million. The other highlight was models' swimming activity that breathed life to the event.
