Both teams are preparing for the upcoming 2026 TotalEnergies Caf Women's Africa Cup of Nations (Wafcon) finals, scheduled to run from July 25 to August 16 in Morocco. Fazili, speaking after the practice match, said he was satisfied with the performance of the team, saying the players delivered a good performance. "I am happy with the performance. You could see a lot of positives from the whole team. We have showcased a lot of good things out of this game," Fazili said. The Scorchers are expected to play Ghana in a final warm-up match before their first Wafcon match against defending champions Nigeria's Super Falcons at Al Madina Stadium on July 28. Thereafter, Malawi will face Egypt at Moulay Hassan Stadium on August 1 before wrapping up Group C campaign against Zambia's Copper Queens at Al Madina Stadium four days later. The top two teams from each group will advance to the quarterfinals. The semi-finalists will automatically qualify for the 2027 Fifa Women's World Cup to be staged in Brazil. Meanwhile, US-based striker and Scorchers vice-captain Temwa Chawinga is expected to join the squad tomorrow. Temwa will be available for selection against Ghana on Wednesday. This could be her first match for the Scorchers after more than a year. She missed several matches due to injuries since October last year.
