Top Italian dancer Roberto Bolle gets star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

Italy's leading ballet étoile becomes the first dancer from the country honoured on the famous Los Angeles pavement. Roberto Bolle, Italy's foremost ballet dancer, is to be awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce has announced. Bolle features among 32 names chosen for the Class of 2027, selected from hundreds of nominations, and will be honoured in the Live Theatre/Live Performance category.The date of the unveiling ceremony has not yet been announced, but is expected to be confirmed in the coming months. A milestone for Italian dance Bolle, 51, trained at La Scala's ballet school in Milan, where he quickly rose to Principal Dancer and then étoile, the highest rank in Italian ballet. He has also held the top rank at American Ballet Theatre and has spent 25 years as a guest artist with London's Royal Ballet. Beyond the world's great opera houses, he is well known in Italy for his television galas, "Roberto Bolle and Friends", which have also marked their 25th anniversary. With this recognition, he becomes the first Italian dancer to receive a star on the Walk of Fame, joining a select group of Italian performers already honoured there, including Sophia Loren, Anna Magnani, Gina Lollobrigida, Luciano Pavarotti, Ennio Morricone and, more recently, Franco Nero. His star will bring the number of Italian artists celebrated on the Los Angeles landmark to 19. "A dream that becomes reality" Bolle said he was deeply moved by the honour, describing it as one of the most significant achievements of his life and career. He dedicated the recognition to his family, his team and the public who have supported him throughout his career, adding that the star also carries a piece of dance, art and Italy into the heart of Hollywood. Peter Roth, chair of the Walk of Fame selection committee, said the 32 honourees in the new class had each left an indelible mark on audiences worldwide through their talent, creativity and dedication to their craft. Walk of Fame Inaugurated in 1960, the Hollywood Walk of Fame honours individuals who have made a significant contribution to the entertainment industry across film, television, music, radio and live performance.
