WIRE — Italian singer taken off aircraft as it was taxiing for take-off from Brindisi.Italian singer-songwriter Francesco Renga was ordered off a Ryanair flight on Sunday after a heated exchange with cabin crew, according to reports in the Italian media.Renga, 57, is one of Italy's best-known pop and rock singers. He rose to fame in the 1990s as the frontman of the band Timoria before launching a successful solo career, winning the Sanremo Music Festival in 2005 with the hit song Angelo. What happenedAccording to accounts from other passengers, the trouble began at the gate at Brindisi airport, where Renga reportedly disputed a decision that his hand luggage was too large to be taken into the cabin. He is said to have initially objected before agreeing to pay the extra charge requested by staff. Once on board the Ryanair flight bound Bergamo, Renga is understood to have complained about a delay to the departure and become involved in a heated exchange with flight attendants and some of his fellow travellers.   Video footageSeveral passengers filmed the confrontation on their phones, and the footage was later shared on social media. The dispute escalated to the point where, with the aircraft already taxiing towards the runway, the captain decided to halt the plane, alert the authorities and return to the gate so that Renga could be removed before take-off. Renga's representatives have so far declined to comment on the incident. Photo credit: Federico Floresta / Shutterstock.com
